A dream of freedom

A dream of freedom

The ramparts exploding over yonder
Shouts and cries, rejoice and terror;
For freedom and family I ponder.
The revelry echoes in the distance
A banner waves, torn and tattered;
Yet our hopes and mercies are not shattered.
Boom! Boom! The cannons roar on!
Ricochets and earth are flying,
Without recourse, the soldiers March on!
Fire! The Colonel shouts! and rifles bellow.
Cavalry galloping, Forward men!!
This field shall not be left hollow!
Explosions! The men fight with vigor and valor!
Onward! This land is ours!
That brave militia corps.
It's not conquering they fight for
No lesson to be taught, or recognition to earn;
But Freedom! And the hope for something more.
A day, they can look without oppression
And see those colors true
Free men and women, having won their secession.
Those colors true! The Red, White and Blue!
Cry out in yells of glory!
Send them another volley!
This is the start of our American story!
Shouts, and cannons and lead a way!
March! March! Play on drummer lad;
Freedom is our right! And we're here to stay.
